"Said and Done"

Nota Bene offers accurate and timely translations from/into Croatian of any complexity and scope in various specialist fields.

The Croatian language is a South Slavic language of the Indo-European language family. Croatian is spoken principally in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Serbian province of Vojvodina. In addition, it is an official language in some parts of the Austrian land of Burgenland.

There are approximately 6.2 million native speakers of Croatian. In addition to those countries in which Croatian enjoys official status, it is spoken in Austria, Hungary, Italy, Romania, Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

Prior to the disintegration of Yugoslavia in 1991, there used to be one single Serbo-Croatian language in Serbia. After 1991, the former Yugoslav nations started developing their own vernaculars.

There are three main Serbo-Croatian dialects: Čakavian, Kajkavian, and Štokavian. Modern Serbo-Croatian was standardized in the first half of the XIX century around the subdialects of Štokavian.

The Croatian alphabet uses the Latin script and is similar to the Czech alphabet.
